Project Title:
The application of Life Cycle Costings (LCC) in the M&E Construction Project.
Project Description:In the mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems in construction Industries, Life Cycle Costing (LCC) has been recognised to have a potential long term economic and environmental advantageous effect on sound sustainable M&E projects. Although the use of sustainable M&E systems is increasing, the number of sustainable M&E systems in building is still outnumbered by the conventional one. Many sustainable M&E systems add up-front capital costs; however it might offer a superior economical advantage over the lift of the project. Although this advantage is clear, little evidence exists confirming that LCC is being used to the full capability in the M&E construction projects.
The research aims to gain a deep understanding of the current use of LCC, exposing the difficulties encountered and limitations faced by looking into particular areas of M&E projects. This information will be used to create a new LCC which is improved and more developed feature of the current LCC to be used in particular areas of M&E projects.
Applicants should have, or expect to receive a qualification equivalent to a high class UK honours degree.
