Ernst Schering Foundation PhD Fellowships

Introduction
The Ernst Schering Foundation supports outstanding young scientists to conduct basic research in human-biology, medicine (except dentistry) or bio-organic chemistry (including related interdisciplinary fields of research). The Foundation awards about 7 doctoral fellowships annually for students to carry out research projects at prestigious institutes either at home or abroad. The fellowships are awarded for a two-year period.

Fellowship amount

As of April 2011, the fellowship amount is 1.300,00 EUR/month. Fellowship recipients who live abroad may be eligible for a cost-of-living adjustment, which will be calculated on the basis of the Federal Ministry of Finance rates that are valid at the time of the fellowship award. In addition, fellows receive a monthly materials allowance of 100,00 EUR to cover travel expenses, books, etc. The participation in a scientific conference we support with a total amount of max. 1.000,00 EUR. The children’s allowance is 400,00 EUR/month for the first child; for each additional child, the allowance is 300,00 EUR/month.
